Intrinzen Certification
The Intrinzen certification is a COMMUNITY project. There is NO FEE for certification; the PURPOSE is to preserve the integrity of the principles on which Intrinzen was originally designed.
Help the community CREATE the Intrinzen certification. Fill out this form, and we'll be in touch soon!
Why the Intrinzen Certification?
Intrinzen means something to me. I created it with a very specific intention (originally, to help my horses Draumur and Vafi), and based on a set of science principles. The goal was — and is — to help horses fall in love again with movement, but WITHOUT needing the same tools and techniques of experts/professionals. Although today there are professionals who also apply the principles of Intrinzen in their work, it was made BY a muggle (me, Kathy Sierra) for other muggles.
The idea of a certification is... an interesting challenge. The purpose of my decision to share Intrinzen publicly was to empower non-experts to design their OWN training. Intrinzen was never supposed to be a Training Method or be used in traditional clinic and lesson formats. But... people are doing that.
The Certification will help interested learners find who is — and who is NOT — officially recognized to help them empower horses in movement.
An Intrinzen Certified Context Designer is basically a "sidekick to other sidekicks". Never the guru.
A Context Designer is more of a consultant, guide, co-explorer to others who are either new to this journey or want more ideas and support.
The main role of a Context Designer is NOT to teach in traditional lessons/clinics (although that can play a role, it’s NOT the most appropriate format for Intrinzen) but to help others create the most supportive environment for the horse, and to learn the skills of task/environment modification to support self-organization and intrinsic motivation.
We are putting together the group who will CREATE the certification. they will decide, together, (meeting on Zoom and other discussions) the set of objectives for what an Intrinzen Certification knowledge and skills evaluation will be.
Certification will require both a science knowledge test (online quiz style) and a more involved evaluation involving case studies, context design examples, etc.
The PREREQUISITE for participating is the Pain Science course.
We hope to have the creation group begin ASAP (I have already done a lot of preliminary work on the certification), and to launch the certification officially starting in the new year (2022).
We’d love to have you!
And once again, remember that this is a community project and there will NOT be any fee for becoming —or staying — certified. There WILL be “requirements” for maintaining certification, and that WILL include some participation in the community.
Hopefully, the official certification will also put an end to people who are claiming to be teaching Intrinzen, but who are not consistent with the principles with which I created it more than a decade ago.
